Many know of the song Free Fallin’ by Tom Petty, but what you may have not known was that, that song was created for all those crazy skydivers out there. Well actually the song technically wasn’t created for skydivers, but I like to think of it as a song that showcases just how free you are way up in the clouds.

I have to say, I have never been one that’s too eager to jump out of a plane and soar through the sky, but I know a whole slew of friends that would jump at the opportunity. Cue in Taupo, New Zealand, the skydiving capital of the world. This skydiving sight is one big adrenaline rush as you soar through the sky at 200km an hour. With over 30,000 insanely fearless people venturing off to New Zealand for the summer to skydive, its no wonder this spot is number one.

Taupo, New Zealand is a quaint town along the shore of Lake Taupo, which is located in the centre of the North Island. The views as you fall from heights of 12,000 and 15,000 feet are mesmerizing, and mind-boggling all wrapped into one. Taupo is home to New Zealand’s largest commercialized skydive drop zone and with three different skydiving companies in the ‘drop zone’ you’ll want to brace yourself for this once in a lifetime experience.

It’s not every day that you can boast about soaring through the sky at over 12,000 feet, and so if you’re ready to go on the adventure of a lifetime, and don’t mind free fallin’ than you’ll certainly want to be flying from Taupo’s perfect sky. Oh and one more thing, you’ll want to buy the recording of your dive; you’ll need something to remember that crazy day you had in New Zealand.
