In 1905 the cave was discovered by two young teenagers during a game of cricket. One of them stuck the ball with such force that it disappeared into a hole yards away. This ball had significant meaning to the boys so they ventured off to retrieve it. As they crawled deeper…and deeper….and deeper they realized what they had discovered, a cave. When they reported the discovery of the cave to the property owners they immediately went to investigate. With nothing but a bicycle light to guide them they discovered an underground world full of splendor surrounding a clear lake.

These caves has since become a favourite attraction for many visitors to the island, including Mark Twain. After guests descend into the Crystal Cave they will quite literally walk on water. Following a bridge that floats directly on the water guests can peer down at formations that seem only inches away from the surface, when in fact they are over 50 feet below! The Fantasy Cave is a unique experience in itself with entire walls covered in calcite mineral deposits that resemble a frozen waterfall. There are also a number of formations that will leave you awestruck. All in all, this is definitely an attraction you don’t want to miss!
