Ready, set…it’s time to get muddy at the best mud sit in the world. At The Boryeong Mud Festival (held between July 14-24th) from head to toe you’ll be drenched in mud no matter which way you look. The festival is held in Boryeong, a town just 200km south of Seoul, South Korea and has been attracting millions of visitors for the past 14 years.

Basically this crazy mud festival all started as a ploy to get people from around the world to purchase a range of cosmetics produced using the unique mud’s for the Boryeong mud flats. The mud, full of minerals, germaniums and bentonites, naturally occurring in the mud from the area, is a thing of beauty when it’s plastered on your skin. And so, the festival was born in 1996, and has continued to hold its sinking, slippery ground ever since.

For the ten days, the festival is all things mud. Everything from colored mud for body paint, mud slides to mud skiing and fantasy fireworks at night. Needless to say, if you need a facial, or a skin peel, than this mud festival is for you. It’s where you’ll be warped into a unique traditional while in South Korea like never before, and it being one of the biggest festival celebrated in South Korea, there is no wonder why tourists from all over the world hop on over to Boryeong to get their mud on. So go on, it’s time to get down and dirty in a whole beach filled with mud.
