Strolling through the steep cobbled streets of Montmartre will be one of your favorites while in Paris. Yes, of course it’s not The Eiffel Tower, but here is a little secret, it may just be better than that. Why, you may ask would it be better than one of the most beautiful sights in the world, well, the only reason I could come up with is that to get there it’s a hike in a half, something you’ll remember forever – and trust me when I say this, as I’ll always remember the hike up to this beautiful town.

Montmartre, is a hill that stands 427 feet high, is a premier artist’s enclave, and is located in the north of Paris in the 18th arrondissement. As a designated historic area, there is little development here, but the sights and sounds of this spot are truly memorable.

Walk around the district to explore the strong artistic side of Paris, pop into a café for an espresso and creamy Nutella crepe, or walk in and out of the shops and purchase a memorable painting or two. The second you walk up those steep steps, you’ll want to embrace the beauty of the land below, and the picturesque sights staring at you. Sacre-Coueur, Montmartre’s most recognizable landmark was constructed from 1876 to 1912, and is something most memorable. The white domed Roman Catholic Basilica sits tall as the highest point in the city, and is visited by millions of tourists each year. Explore the beauty of this basilica, or take a few hundred photographs at the vast lands of Paris down below. Beauty is exploding every which way you look while walking the steep cobbled streets of Montmartre.
