One of the lovely things about living in a big city is that everything is at your fingertips. Of course, while in Toronto, if you have a love for choosing your own fresh food, and have a passion for checking out what local artisans are up to, than The St. Lawrence Market located in downtown Toronto is going to be your next favourite place.

Deemed as one of the world’s greatest markets, it is today, comprised of three main buildings: The South Market, The North Market and St. Lawrence Hall. Each, unique in their own right offer you a taste of what perfection throughout a market should be.

In the quaint building on the main and lower levels is where The South Market is located. Here is where you’ll find over 120 specialty vendors. From everything to fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, baked goods and more, you’ll want to pick up all of your fresh produce here so you can get ready for your picnic in the park later this afternoon. What I love about The South Market is that on the second floor, is where The Market Gallery is. This unique exhibition place is for local talents of Toronto’s Cultural Services to showcase their creations.

Venture off to The North Market every Saturday for one of the best Farmer’s Markets you’ll ever stumble upon. With seasonal produce making its way to this market every Saturday and over 80 antique deals filling the market every Sunday, the 10,000 square feet of showroom space is a perfect place for you to take in all that’s wonderful about spending the day at the market.

Finally, The St. Lawrence Hall is home to retail businesses, City offices, and a 1967 restored Great Hall which is available for special events. And so, if you’re ever in Toronto for the night and want to check out where the locals go to pick out the freshest produce in a rustic building than The St. Lawrence Market is it.
