When I was little and my parents would tell me about Greenland, I always assumed it was one really big spot that was green as far as your eyes could take you. Little did I know back than, that Greenland was nothing like that. In fact, it’s one of the coolest places to visit if you have a deep-rooted passion for all things winter. The second you step onto Greenland, you bash any ideas of it being green, and you’ll stroll through a glorious winter wonderland.

Embarking on a trip to Greenland, you’ll first want to know that The Greenland Ice Sheet covers approximately 80% of Greenland’s surface, it holds around 10% of the world’s ice, and is considered the second largest body of ice in the world. So get ready to get your toes all frosty when you stroll off to The Ice Canyon, one of the coolest, coldest places you’ll ever visit.

The canyon is usually 30 to 40 meters deep, and is an ice lover’s paradise. Snow, skate, or mountain climb down the canyon, and you’ll be apart of the way of the locals. The wonderfully beautiful thing about the canyon is that it’s not your average looking canyon with that rustic red coloring all around and in it, nope, it’s nothing like that. What you get when you stroll through The Ice Canyon is brilliant white snow and deep below the brightest of blue waters down below. It truly is a mystical spot, even if you’re not keen on below freezing temperatures.
